I recently moved to Penn State Abington as an Assistant Professor of Information Sciences and Technology! I am very excited to teach and continue my research in this renowned institution.

I am going to continue working on Advanced Layout Optimizer and make it an open source project. This was a joint decision making of myself and my Ph.D. advisors Drs. Alice Smith and Kevin Gue. I hope to hear more support from colleagues in the field and I will do a Webinar to get more support from more people supporting Material Handling and Logistics Field.

For the fall semester I will be teaching IST210 Organization of Data which is similar to Database Systems class for Fall 2017 semester. I was teaching a very similar class when I was an undergraduate lab instructor at Izmir University of Economics. I will try to keep students busy with assignments and quizzes without being too harsh on them. I will use active learning techniques so they do not have to memorize everything when it comes to exam time.

As a new faculty member, I am attending many new faculty meetings, webinars, and other events. I will pursue grants that will support my research and collaborate more with my colleagues who are interested in the field of layout design, optimization, and virtual reality. If you are reading this, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My e-mail address is and I look forward to hear back from you if you would like to collaborate!
